I was born, raised and educated in England and moved to the USA as a young adult. I can’t remember a time when I didn’t draw, art has always been my passion. As a little girl, I would beg my Dad to take me to the National Gallery in London where I would spent hours just soaking it all in and then would go home and attempt to draw what I had just seen.
After moving to America, I studied art with the late, Dana John Steinheimer. He was an amazing artist and teacher who profoundly influenced the way I perceive. We stayed in touch whenever possible throughout his life, he passed away in 2011 and I still miss him very much.
My first love was drawing and I still sketch and draw with pencil, pen and ink and silverpoint. I’m primarily a painter working in most mediums including oil, acrylic and egg tempera. My paintings and drawings are in collections throughout the USA, New Zealand and Great Britain and my work has also appeared over the years in books and national and international magazines.
I love to try new forms of expression and began making mosaics a few years ago and I’m a member of the Society of American Mosaic Artists. I also design and make wearable art in the form of jewelry.
When I built my studio in the Spring of 1991, bees built a hive in the dormer of my 1890′s cottage and they have come back every year since (I call a beekeeper and he removes and re-hives them elsewhere). Those tenacious bees are my inspiration to creatively persevere no matter what.
I’m married to a great guy and have two beautiful daughters, a wonderful granddaughter and three lovely grandsons.
I feel so lucky to do what I do and to have the loving support of my family and friends.
